Golf Tournament
Monday, October 4

Tee off your week! The 2010 Corrugated Classic golf tournament will be held Monday, October 4, at the Maryland Golf and Country Club in Bel Air, MD. Bus transportation is available with a reservation. The fee to play 18 holes is $140 per person and $540 per foursome, which includes lunch, greens fees, cart and bag service.

Deadline for registration is Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Spouse/Guest Programs

Memorable activities are planned for your spouse and guests during Corrugated Week 2010. All spouses and guests are invited to a Wine & Cheese gathering on Monday afternoon in the Harborview Atrium of the Hyatt Regency Baltimore to renew acquaintances and make plans for the events in the coming days.

Spouses will enjoy a Welcome to Baltimore tour on Tuesday and see the sites of one of America’s oldest cities, which earned the nickname “Charm City” for its many attractions and friendly residents. Wednesday will be a lunch date to Bo Brooks Restaurant, voted year after year as Baltimore’s Best Crab House. While enjoying the wonderful lunch selections, the guests will learn how to get all of the delectable meat from the crab as demonstrated by the experts!

The $150 program fee includes the Monday Wine & Cheese reception, Tuesday’s tour of Baltimore, Tuesday evening’s Welcome Reception, Wednesday’s lunch at Bo Brooks, and Continental breakfast on both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Dennis Mehiel, US Corrugated
Mr. Mehiel is President and Chief Operating Officer of U.S. Corrugated, Inc. He also serves as President and COO of Mannkraft Corporation, an affiliated company in the corrugated packaging industry, and President of U.S. Display Group, the Point-of-Purchase Display subsidiary of U.S. Corrugated, Inc.

Mr. Mehiel has been in the packaging industry since 1991 and has served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility within U.S. Corrugated, Inc. and its predecessors, including General Manager of facilities in Jacksonville, FL and Newark, NJ. In addition to his experience in the corrugated packaging industry, Mr. Mehiel also served as President of the Fonda Division of The Sweetheart Cup Company from 2000 until the company’s sale to The Solo Cup Company in 2004.

Marc Freedman, US Chamber of Commerce
The New Direction of OSHA - What it Means to the Corrugated Industry

Marc Freedman is director of labor law policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity, Freedman is responsible for developing and advocating the Chamber’s response to OSHA matters, the Employee Free Choice Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the minimum wage increase, and other labor and workplace issues. In addition, he is involved in the Chamber’s activities on implementing the ADA Title III Accessibility Guidelines.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.

TAPPI Conference Sessions

Corrugated Week 2010 focuses its conference sessions this year on the industry hot-buttons of sustainability, renewability, color consistency, quality, and safety. Be among those who hear first-hand the latest information on the impact of new OSHA regulations, safety innovations and updates, and what the retail industry expects from corrugated. The experts scheduled represent companies, such as Temple-Inland, Green Bay Packaging, AIB International, Packaging Corporation of America, Color Resolutions, Brady Corporation, Wachler Engineering and the US Chamber of Commerce among others.

Corrugated Week 2010 is revealing a new face on the What’s New Technology Showcase session this year. The session will be called “Innovations.” In an effort to allow more presentations and categorize them by interests, The 3 hour session has been divided into 3 equal parts – Innovations for the Corrugator, Innovations for the Convertor and Innovations for Non-machinery.

CorrPak Competition

The CorrPak® 2010 Competition is open to ALL corrugated manufacturers worldwide. Entries are being accepted for corrugated package products manufactured between August 1, 2008 and August 1, 2010. The CorrPak® 2010 Competition is sponsored by TAPPI's Corrugated Packaging Division and is held every other year. The competition identifies and recognizes the finest commercially produced corrugated package products in the industry.

Deadline for entries is Friday, August 27, 2010.

Fiberboard Shipping Container Testing Committee (FISCOTEC)

This committee of the Corrugated Packaging Division maintains Test Methods designed to help define performance-related properties of fiberboard shipping containers based on the physical properties of their components.

Supplier Advisory Committee
Wednesday, October 6

The Supplier Advisory Committee meeting is open to all exhibiting companies.

Corrugated Board Technical Service Committee (CORBOTEC)
Wednesday, October 6
11:15 – 1:00 Hyatt Hotel

This committee of the Corrugated Packaging Division provides technical assistance to mills, container plants, and box customers in resolving board and container problems by promoting information exchange and communication between all elements of the process and distribution cycle.

AICC Events
Corrugated Week 2010 will feature educational programs from both AICC and TAPPI associations, as well as exhibits highlighting supplier innovations for the corrugated industry. Production managers, boxplant owners, engineers, technical service personnel, and production personnel will all find something of benefit from the networking, training and information gathering opportunities. Likewise, exhibitors will experience unsurpassed access for 2010 to key decision-makers from integrated and independent corrugated converters. The supplier trade fair will take place on Wednesday, October 6 & Thursday, October 7 at the Hilton Baltimore. Trade fair hours are from 1:00 – 5:00 each day.
